Fairy Triptych in Acrylics

Medium: Acrylics on canvas, Subject: Fantasy
Fairy Triptych 2018

These 3 paintings are separate canvasses which work together visually, either by theme, colour, elements or overlapping shapes. Triptych formats were initially used in religious art, but are now popular in fine art, art installations and even store-bought prints. The large grouped format creates impact on walls and are easy to install as units rather than as a single huge canvas. The art work was undertaken by my 19 year old daughter, Jodie, a budding artist in her own right. Although she has recently graduated with distinctions from the National School of the Arts (Braamfontein, Johannesburg) she would rather describe herself as a practical designer. Jodie is currently enrolled in a Multi-media Degree Programme at the University of Johannesburg. She is passionate about drawing, so much so that she spent her gap year (2018) completing an apprenticeship in the art of tattooing. She will soon be launching her own Tattoo Label called "In Space". I'm proud that one of mine has adopted a creative path and channeled that energy into a practical skill that has an earning potential.
